Looking for a gift that won't end up forgotten in a drawer? The Kimchi & Prosecco course is an experience the recipient takes home twice, in their memory and in a jar of kimchi they made themselves. It includes a prosecco tasting and a few hours in the company of people who share the same gastronomic curiosity. In this article, we explain who makes a good gift recipient, how the course runs, and how the corporate version works for an entire team.
The course as a gift works surprisingly well, all that is needed is for the recipient to have an appetite for new ingredients and not fear experimentation.
The common denominator is simple: a gift that can be experienced, not just unwrapped and put aside. And unlike most experience vouchers, it can be redeemed at any time of year: the course does not depend on the weather or the season.
The course begins with a brief introduction to fermentation and the history of kimchi, after which everyone gets to work, salting cabbage, preparing a paste from gochugaru chilli, garlic and ginger, and finally mixing by hand. The instructor guides the whole group step by step, so there is no need to worry about making mistakes. You can find the complete procedure we use on the course in the article. How to make kimchi at home.
While waiting for the final stage, you taste prosecco and chat with other participants: the course is intentionally small and social, not an anonymous group of thirty people. At the end, everyone takes their own jar of fresh kimchi home to ferment to their liking.
For companies and larger groups, we offer a private course where the group has exclusive space: typically for four to twenty people. This is an unconventional type of corporate event: participants must collaborate, get their hands dirty, and finally sit down together to taste their own creation with prosecco.
We adapt the format and duration to suit your group: from a shorter tasting session to a full course featuring various types of kimchi. For corporate events, we recommend booking several weeks in advance as capacity for private courses is limited.
The gift course includes all ingredients for making kimchi, prosecco tastings throughout the event, and your own jar of finished kimchi to take home. You don't need to worry about any additional equipment or advance preparation, just come in comfortable clothing, as working with cabbage and paste can get a bit messy.
The course is led by an experienced instructor who guides the group from introduction to the final tasting, making it suitable even for complete beginners with no prior cooking or fermentation experience. You will take home not only a jar of kimchi but also a recipe and the desire to continue fermenting at home.
